Do you know that warm feeling you get? Like ooey gooey warmth that just travels through your body from your head to your toes then straight into your heart? This is one of those moments. Summertime Promises is a love story that fills your heart till your about to burst open. This story is about Chance and Delanee (AKA: Lane) they have been childhood best friends for a long ten years every summer meeting at summer camp. Delanne and Chance both have their own lives away from camp and its less than happy. Delanee's mother is a raging alcoholic who is constantly in and out of rehab, along with an absentee father she once and still loves with all her heart. Chance also only has one parent, a mother and a sibling sister named Rhea. Chance is scared for his family because their financial problems worries him. Even though they both have things on the edge of their minds, they still have plenty of time to express their love for one another. The big question is: Will it ruin their friendship? Chance and Delanee have always been best friends along with their other friends, Mei, Lilian, and Elliot. But will their feelings for each other make them drift apart? Chance throughout the book does little things to try and subtly hint his feelings for Delanee but Delanee is just blinded and doesn't seem to get it. I loved reading this book the heartfelt moments kept me in a constant state of aaawwwwww. Yes it was an awww book it shows you that special bond you can have with a person. Just like Chance says in the book, "Home is where your family is." Will Delanee finally figure out Chance has been her home all along? I was crying while reading this story, some of joy, some of sadness and some out of pure anger. Lets just say there always has to be a protagonist, Okay? Yeah I know I don't like them either especially in a book like this but whatever. This book keeps you sitting up straight waiting to see if they will finally just fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. Mostly because we all know while reading they are the perfect pieces for each other. I forgot to mention Chance has a major thing for Disney and Harry Potter by then Delanee should have already figured out he's the one if not I'll take him ;). It was super well written and it switches point of views so you can see both sides in this magical relationship. This is a must read.
